Create your own courses 101

A detailed guide to create new courses for your website

Create a new course

When the course is created, the URL generated based on this name will be saved and cannot be changed even though you change the course’s name later.

Sections

Lessons

The Lessons section contains the content of a course. Click Add Chapter to create a brand-new chapter.

Fill in the name for the chapter, then click Update to save.

Click Add Lesson and choose one of the provided types of lessons:

  • Video (Upload from your computer or from other websites such as Vimeo and YouTube)

  • Text

  • Quiz

  • Presentation

  • Multimedia (Embed documents from Google Docs, Google Forms, Microsoft Online, etc.)

  • Live

  • PDF

  • Download (Teachers can upload some files, and students can then download them to their devices)

  • Exercises

Information

Basic Information:

Remember to click Update to save the information before moving on to other categories.

The Basic Information category includes:

  • Course’s name

  • Teachers (Administrators can create a new teacher or select an already created teacher)

  • Tag/Topic (Administrators can create a new topic/tag or select a created one)

    • Tag: Used to differentiate between courses

    • Topic: A group of courses that have something in common

    • Example:

      • Tag: Special courses, October notable courses

      • Topic: Lose weight, Body Building, etc.

  • Label (i.e Hot, Bestseller, etc.)

Image and Trailer

Remember to click Update to save the information before moving on to other categories.

  • Trailer (Upload from your computer/Embedding link)

  • Course’s images:

    • Widget image (500x352px): will be displayed on the homepage or the course list page.

    • Detailed image (768x614px): will be displayed on the page of that course

Price

  • Price: Original price without discount.

  • Discount: Price after discount

Affiliate

Affiliate is a marketing strategy for your courses. Your current or former students will receive their own Affiliate Link for that course and will earn commissions if new students use that Affiliate Link to buy the course. New students who use Affiliate Link will also be entitled to a discount.

Publish

Type

  • Ongoing: Courses that apply the price after discount

  • Free: Free course (by its name) no matter what price you set up for it

    • Purpose: give your potential customers a short-term experience of your teaching or offer the course to your current students as a gift.

  • Hidden: Courses that will not be displayed on the homepage, but enrolling students can still access them

    • Purpose: Available internally in a business, or available to already enrolling students or new students who have Activation Codes.

Publish

  • Publish: The course will be displayed on the homepage

  • Unpublish: The course will not be accessed or seen by anyone except for the administrators

Click Update to save the information.
